The Benefit of Confusion

It can also be not having to decide, listen, or be wrong.

We can use it to save pride or distract and humiliate others.

Often we make a benefit of confusion to prevent something good from actually happening like community organizing or the development of a common cause.

The downsides to confusion are obvious. But when we don’t pay attention to the benefits, we miss the way others take advantage of the situation. And because of that, also in understanding a way out.

Solutions to a lot of our most vexing problems as a society are already here. There are experts quite capable of presenting them clearly. And for so many of them, there are vast majorities of people quite willing to make all of the needed changes.

We aren’t actually confused about why those problems are still present. We just aren’t willing to accept who benefits from the illusion that we are. And what it takes for us to change that.
