We are overloaded with information. It’s time to fix it.

What goes in:

We need some traditional news. Just not too much.

Also entertainment. Leisure. Fluff.

And almost everyone needs a little more psychology and sociology. We need more people telling us how brains and people operate: not how pundits think they should.

How it gets in:

A limit to the number of inputs, not the number of sources.

A decent news aggregator (Apple News+), an old-school RSS feed reader, and a read it later app will get you 80% of the way there.

This is what we can do individually. But we need to fix this for everybody.

The big fix

There is a wide-open market for getting us out of social media feeds, collecting and indexing our infinite inputs, and taking more control of our media intake.

We should be able to have one app that combines RSS with social media, news, and email newsletters. And it needs to be visual, searchable, and minimal.

Build that and everything changes.

Make it look good, and it would be killer.

Because we don’t need more consumption. We need better consumption. And the freedom to get bored.
