I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke. In my 20s, I’d drink at least one 44 once fountain drink per day. Always Diet Coke.

These days, I never finish a 32. And rarely finish a 20.

The why is kind of obvious, but only from the side.

I’m drinking a lot more water, for one. And 1-2 cups of coffee. So I’m probably drinking more liquid in pure volume. So clearly, I’m not actually thirsty.

But it is also a strange thing. That I really only like the taste of Diet Coke for maybe 8 ounces.

Or only when it is really cold and when I’m sweating. And really, only at about 3-4 in the afternoon. Get the conditions juuuuuuusst right…maybe I’ll drink two-thirds before its all watered down. And then I’m just drinking it to drink it.

The rest of the time? It’s the first few sips. That’s about it.

Certainly makes it easier to quit something you hardly want. Even when you still think you want it.
