In the parables of the lost sheep and lost coin, Jesus reveals both the generosity of God and our role in the drama.

These are some of my favorite parables, for sure. There is so much there!
I’ve always found it valuable to take them as a unit: precisely because they play off of each other. It is especially instructive when we see what happens when we read it allegorically: that the searcher must be God and the lost one must be us…
