Peter

  • The first thing we need to realize is that this story isn’t about Peter. The second is that our story, therefore, isn’t really about us.

  • Peter, the Beloved Disciple, and why the way we judge ourselves keeps us from seeing how much we are truly loved.

  • It is so weird that Peter is naked and then clothes himself and then jumps in the water. How can we not talk about it?

  • There is such power in this rebuke that it shatters our focus on the moment. Like when a trusted authority uses a swear word.

  • What Jesus told them to do was follow him. Instead, 7 disciples went to the beach.

  • When Peter calls Jesus the Messiah, he gets the right answer the wrong way. A pattern we repeat in our fear of chaos and of intimacy.
