  • Jesus speaks of the way to the Father and two disciples ask for certainty and clarity. The response they get is “you already know” and “wake up.”

  • In this encounter with the disciples, Jesus names his confidence in the disciples, in what they know. And they’re like, you can’t be serious.

  • Jesus’s talk about The Way is a conflicting experience for modern Christians. Because the concept confuses us.

  • It’s a weird feeling: having confidence in one’s own ability and belief in God’s grace. Especially when they meet.

  • There is nothing wrong with doing right. Or with being confident that we are right. We shouldn’t think we are righteous.
