  • In John 1:29-42, we have an alternative call story–one that opens up the possibility that Jesus came to offer different leadership.

  • This lectionary jump could be fruitful if we’re willing to first recognize the jump. And then, take what John has to say seriously.

  • There’s something to the way we talk about the tit-for-tat of politics that deeply confuses us. The danger for us is how it narrows our understanding.

    As traditions go, baptism is pretty straight forward. And just like everything else, we often lose track of the point: God.

  • Political isn’t a dirty word. It’s a big word. A word many are so very frightened of. But it’s also an important and wild word.

  • All this jumping around in the lectionary is making me dizzy. Now we’re back to John the Baptist. But a question remains unanswered.
