Big City or Small Town

It’s easy to count the advantages of big cities. More to do and more opportunity.

Small towns have their own. Like a slower pace and a chance to know people.

Depending on how you look at it, these advantages can flip. Some find more to do and more opportunities in small towns. Others find the pace less hectic in the city and it can be easier to meet people.

Differences aren’t entirely cosmetic or mindset, however. There’s a healthy dose of economics and community that play a part.

Where you live, and how much you love it, can depend on how you look at it. But how you look at it can depend a lot on what tools you are looking with. Poor eyesight and no corrective lenses? Well, I’m not sure I’ll trust your testimony. Same for those sporting rose-colored shades or images covered in sepia tones.

Poverty has a way of coloring our vision. So does abuse and oppression. The kinds of things that are common in every community.

The same with wealth, family success, and other properties of privilege.

Make the best of where you are. Or better yet, make the place you are better than it is. You can start to do that simply by being the best you in that place.
