Violence doesn’t teach them to respect you. It teaches them the lengths you will go to have your way.

 

We expect violence to communicate the complex thoughts, the most sophisticated of desires, the very contents of our minds, but it doesn’t make them mind readers.

It doesn’t communicate what we want to communicate. It communicates our will, our aggression, and the very desperate need to make things be different than they are.

And then, after all that, it teaches others to be violent, too.

It teaches, just not what you want them to learn. Which means violence is an effective teacher but an immoral and unethical one.
