We arrived at our new home in St. Clair last Tuesday after a marathon drive up from Georgia. As we continue to settle in to our new place, I thought I’d give you a rundown of the last couple of weeks. First, they packed us up and filled this van. As you can see, there wasn’t that much space left over. Thank goodness we only took up half of a normal truck. It would have been much more embarrassing to fill up this monster all by ourselves!
They packed up the house and loaded the truck all in one day. It was quite the feat! We stayed in a motel (quite the luxury!) that night and I returned to the house the next day to clean and empty the fridge. It was quite something to say goodbye to the house and even harder to say goodbye to the Barnes & Noble in Ashley Park. I dropped off some frozen meals and ice cream treats for Rose’s former coworkers and get a couple of coffee drinks for the road. We then started driving. We decided at about 7:00 or so, when we were nearing Ohio, that we should try to keep going. We drove straight through, with a few breaks, arriving at my in-laws’ shortly before 3:00 am. The whole drive was easy and dry. When we woke up, we saw this. It held out for us and then snowed all day Sunday.
After a few days in Davison, east of Flint, Michigan, we drove the last hour to our new home in St. Clair. I sneaked into the office a few times during the week to look around and get access to a computer. I had to work that Sunday!
