Last night I presided over a reaffirmation of marriage for an amazing couple.  Bill and Amy have been married for 20 years, and as they described to me, almost all of it has been wonderful.  But some of it was incredibly rough.  So this was  a really big deal.

I was moved by their devotion to one another and to their faith.  They found real strength in their faith and saw it as necessary for maintaining their devotion to one another.  It was amazing to see, particularly from people who have been struggling.

My own humble contribution was nothing compared with the generosity and hope they showed to their friends and family that joined us.

What a great way to close out Advent: with such hope, devotion, and expectant joy!
