Sermons – Preaching the Lectionary

Need help with your preaching? Or are you looking for a sermon of hope in the midst of despair? Looking for a challenge to your expectations or seeking a new way to look at an old story?

Chances are you’ll find it here.

Preaching

I’ve been preaching for a decade and every week for the last four years. What I’ve found is that I am not here to give you advice, but to help reveal the beauty, depth, challenge, and hope that is found in Scripture.

So you won’t find little nuggets or new ways to “pay it forward”. You won’t find easy excuses for bad behaviors. And you certainly won’t find the rote Sunday School version of past stories. You’ve heard all that before. It isn’t what you need.

You will find challenge and hope; storytelling and a whole lot of talk about the Bible story. You will find real sermons preached with real people. They aren’t perfect. Some of them I would tear down to the studs and start over. But you will find honest reflection on GOD and what each of us (and all of us) are being called to do.

I hope you enjoy them!

Rethink the Gospel

Part sermon starter, part personal reflection, this new series invites the reader to engage the big picture and the most challenging question in the gospel text for the week.
