School Encourages Homophobic Humiliation as Student Punishment

This is absolutely disgusting.

School Encourages Homophobic Humiliation as Student Punishment.

As the article’s author writes:

And how will the principal protect his students from bullying each other now that he’s just condoned it?

This is the crux of education, after all, that we learn by example. And the example the principle has just set is to bully. What do you think everyone just learned?

In the bad old days they tried to correct/change left handed was the same way. Some people never learn.

  2. While I think it’s wrong. I’d like to point out that I don’t think he meant it to be homophobic. Two people holding hands doesn’t equal being gay. I think the media jumped on it as such to elevate the issue. I think the principal made two fighting boys hold hands. Almost like a kiss and make up thing in the old days. I do think it ridiculous that the he condoned slurs and comments from the other students.
I think all teachers use humiliation embarrassment and the like to motivate children to have mainstream behavior. It doesn’t excuse it, but I think it’s rather common. Raising your voice to a child is even a form of humiliation.
He took it too far obviously. But I do get where he thought he was coming from.
