Engaging Everyone in Church

Our primary operating assumptions need to be:

  1. Church is the people not the building.
  2. Every part of the church (the people) is essential.
  3. Every person has gifts.
  4. In baptism, we are all equal.
  5. Our expression of church should match our operating assumptions.

My series on engaging everyone in church argues that every single one of us is vital to becoming a church with vitality.  Using my notes from a lecture by Sam Portaro at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, I am going through each age group.  In dealing with where each group is, we can imagine where our church could be.

This post will be updated with links to each part as it is written: ChildrenPre-TeensYouth, Young Adults, Mid-Lifers, Seniors.

See also two posts dealing with time: “Not Enough Time” and “Using My Time’s Gonna Cost Ya’!” and one solution to the whole thing: “Just Cut the Church Programs“.
